About the Author
Jay's creative spark first showed itself in the imaginative excuses she crafted to explain unfinished homework. But her true passion for storytelling didn’t fully ignite until much later in life. Leaving school at sixteen, she went on to build a successful career in the computer industry, working across a range of roles from systems analysis to project management.
After taking early retirement, Jay fulfilled a long-held dream by attending university, where she earned a BA (Hons) in History with a 2:1. A Distinction in a Creative Writing module gave her the confidence to merge her love of history and storytelling, inspiring her to write her debut historical novel.
A countrywoman at heart, Jay now enjoys a peaceful rural life with her husband, their dogs, and a flock of pedigree sheep. Showing her prize-winning animals introduced her to the vibrant and varied world of county shows and farming communities. Passionate about promoting livestock knowledge, she has written magazine articles offering guidance to new smallholders.
Jay also has a deep interest in traditional crafts and heritage skills. She enjoys working with her sheep’s fleece—washing, spinning, dyeing with natural materials, and knitting it into sweaters for family and friends. Some of the naturally dyed scarves may be an acquired taste in colour, but they’re always made with love.
